HM Queen Mother Sends Love to HM The King Ahead of Coronation Day

Phnom Penh: Cambodia celebrates Coronation Day on Friday. The day is a public holiday every year and this year marks the 17th anniversary of the coronation of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni. On the eve of the anniversary, Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Monineath Sihanouk has penned a letter to her son, referring to herself affectionately as “Maman”, French for “Mother”.

In the letter to her son, the Queen Mother writes that Her Majesty, “joins in the warmest congratulations with the nation and people of Cambodia. The people of Cambodia are extremely proud of you, who has a well-behaved character in the service of the motherland of Cambodia. On this great occasion, Maman would like to express her warmest appreciation to my Son, who has become more and more famous in the national and international community and has achieved great success in his historical work”.

Her Majesty ends the letter by saying, “May the Kingdom of Cambodia know only peace, prosperity and progress forever for the happiness of the King.”
